Saturday 27th June :)

The skate jam and gig for PAPYRUS was on Saturday. I couldn't sleep the night before, woke up (for the 12th time) an hour before my alarm and every time I looked at the clock it hadn't moved I swear. I was lay there squeezing my eyes closed, willing myself to sleep for just one more hour. I had hundreds of butterflies and couldn't settle.

The day went brilliantly. Though, if it wasn't for the help I got at the skate jam I would have been screwed. Cannot thank my helpers enough. There was some class skating going on (footage from Sidewalk Mag HERE!) and I really enjoyed myself in between running around and sweating. Yep, Leeds got sun/warm. Weird, right? We shifted pizzas and my amazing vegan brownies. You have to taste them, then you'll forgive my boasting!

I had to get down to The Cockpit, they said 4pm but this seemed ridiculously early, I got there around 4.45pm. The engineer for the gig seemed impressed that I'd organised the backline and such. Good start. Bands started arriving, we basically hung out and chatted in between a couple of sound checks and waiting. Pretty fun. I'm in love with the Dungeons boys, oh and the Closure boys. More a mumsy way than a HOTDAMN way. They're just all so bloody lovely! All the bands played amazingly, The Lock & Keys are great. I've seen them before, they're just so put together and poppy :) Kids went mental for The Plight - bodies flew, sweat dripped. It reached maximum capacity. Lovely stuff.

Quite a few people came up to me to say thank you for putting the show on, which was really nice. Totally made it worth while.

The amount raised for PAPYRUS is around £750, but until the charity opens the collection boxes and counts that we don't have an exact number.

I'm proud of what was achieved. I'm also ever so grateful to the bands and every single person who helped me in any way. Next year for sure. Until then, I need a new project...x.
