I was stood opposite Rio's yesterday waiting for a bus. This weekend saw Leeds taken over by Oli Sykes and Suicide Girl wannabes when Ghostfest was held. It was a nice Sunday morning, I was drinking tea, strolling through town and feeling good about the day/night before. Then I see these children and just feel really angry to be associated with their generation.
Everything a Suicide Girl (and the other bullshit "pin-up" groups) embodies is, frankly, awful.
It's quite alarming that so many young girls aspire to become something which only represents that getting your goods out is an alluring way to get on in life. What a way to break that glass ceiling !
Women who use their bodies to achieve some sort of status within the scene they're a part of scream desperation to me. I'm not bitter, I'm not fat or ugly. I just don't grasp why it's deemed as popular. You're a page 3 girl. Your dad looks at girls the same age as you when he's reading The Sun in a greasy spoon every Saturday. The one's that get their nipples rated - I've done this, burger nips, anyone?
This aspiring glamour model generation seems to be fueled by myspace and the like, I've just come across a profile and her screen name thing is, "lollipops&cocaine". Seriously, who are these kids? Apparently glamorising drugs, stripping, a false/fake image and looking like a raped Barbie Doll is the way to go.
Is it actually dead cool to cover yourself in make up, add extensions, dye your hair some wacky colour and get shit tattoo's all over your visible skin, then brag about how you're submitting your half-naked photo's taken by your mate Charlotte to "SG"?
IT'S NOT.
My opinions prove further that I'm not 19 inside. x.
