I’ve been Vegetarian for around 3 years. For a year of this I was quite strict - I didn’t drink milk and would only consume it if it was already in a food. I had milk chocolate and cheese, but not massive amounts. For the past year or so I haven’t been strict at all and I basically feel hypocritical (due to the animal rights/welfare issues) for still having dairy and eggs - not that I’ve ever eaten eggs as a stand alone food anyhow.
So, I’ve decided to go Vegan, it just seems to be the next step. I’m getting bad stomach cramps when I have dairy, it doesn’t agree with me. Also I seem to be around more people who are Veggie and Vegan lately and my decision is been encouraged. It doesn’t seem to be a tough transition as recently I have been eating a Vegan diet, almost without realising. I figure I may as well keep it up.
I literally became Vegetarian over-night, the fact I’ve never been keen on meat helped. I was under-weight before as I couldn’t finish a full meal because I found the meat disgusting. I have a huge appetite now and am a stone heavier. I use this when people argue that Veggie’s are always scrawny and un-healthy!
I’m now preparing for the fresh ribbings I’ll be getting from my family, who are total carnivores. Here goes…
